A JULY FOURTH CELEBRATION

About the year 1903, a group of Augusta Township citizens, a few having good driving horses and being interested in racing, held a meeting and decided to repair the old race track, where the Augusta Township Fair had been held.  After doing this, they then decided to hold a 4th of July celebration at the old fair ground, which they did, having horse races, bicycle races, foot races, and other events, and quite a large crowd.
